Source: Liputan6.com

Indonesia, for the first time in the nation's history, will hold the U20 World Cup which will be held on May 20, 2023. This world cup was held in several cities in Indonesia, including Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Palembang, Surakarta and Gianyar. The Indonesian National Team itself also has the status of one and only representative from ASEAN because it acts as the host for this event every 2 years. However, there is some controversy regarding the participants in the world cup which was held this year by Indonesian football observers and lovers.

This year's World Cup was attended by 24 participants, where each continent's football head sent its best representatives. Some of the leading countries that are predicted to become champions such as Brazil, England, Italy, and France have a big chance to win this tournament. However, in the 24 participants, there was 1 country name which became a controversy in Indonesian society, that country is Israel.

A number of community groups rejected Israel's participation as a participant in the u20 world cup due to human rights and Israel's conflict with Palestine. Indonesia also does not recognize Israeli sovereignty and does not establish bilateral relations with Israel. However, the participation of a country in the FIFA event is entirely the authority of FIFA as the parent of world football. Indonesia and the Ministry of Sports only provide venues and supporting facilities as hosts. Raden Isnanta, Deputy of the Ministry of Sports said

"Sport has nothing to do with politics, sport is sport"

Regarding this, Israel's participation in the U20 World Cup can be ensured that it will continue to participate and be involved in this tournament regardless of public controversy and criticism.

Riot Outside the Stadium in the Central Java Derby

Riots outside the stadium spice up the Central Java Derby match between PSIS Semarang against Persis Solo at the Jatidiri Stadium in Semarang. The match which was held on Friday 17 August ended in a 1-1 draw for both teams. The two teams exchanged attacks that threatened the goalkeeper's goal but it was PSIS who scored the goal in the 80th minute through Septian David Maulana's kick from the penalty spot after PSIS player was fouled by an opposing player. PSIS' victory had to be dispersed because at the end of the match, Persis solo in the 90th minute scored a goal by Irfan Jauhari through his thunder kick against PSIS' goalkeeper where after that, he had to get a red card due to a celebration of undressing.

But the match between these two historic teams had to be tarnished in the 70th minute. The match was stopped in the 70th minute due to a protest that was submitted by the captain of Persis Solo due to a gunshot outside the stadium.

The banging heard by the players was the result of tear gas fired by the police as a result of clashes with supporters who forced their way into the stadium to support their  team. Whereas the day before the match, organizers announced that this hot prestige match was being held without the presence of both home and guest supporters due to security issues.

The reason the supporters wanted to break in was that the organizing committee had already sold match tickets 2 days before this high-stakes match, while the police's permit had only been issued 1 day before the match. In addition, this high-risk match has a large number of supporters' interest from both teams due to rivalry and a long history of who is the strongest team in Central Java. However, with this chaos happening, will the police still give permission for the next high-risk match to be played in Semarang? Let's wait for the upcoming match between PSIS vs Persebaya.
