Naturalized players are now a hot issue among Indonesian football fans. It is also rumored that a number of names from hereditary players are undergoing the naturalization process to defend the red and white. One of the most popular names is Justin Hubner, who recently canceled being a naturalized player for the Indonesian national team.

This was confirmed by a member of the PSSI executive committee where it was stated that Justin's party had made a request during his naturalization process that could not be fulfilled by PSSI. There was news that the player of Dutch-Indonesian descent asked PSSI for Rp. 16 billion to be naturalized.

The request was made after Indonesia failed to appear at the 2023 U-20 World Cup. On the other hand, Justin Hubner has just been called up to the Dutch U-20 national team. PSSI finally officially stopped Justin Hubner's naturalization process and canceled his status as Indonesian Citizen (WNI).

Flare, Football Culture or Football Threat?

Source: Wearemania

Flares are part of the ship's safety equipment that every ship must provide. When this tool is turned on, it will emit sparks and red smoke. Normally the use of this tool is as a tool to mark a point or whereabouts of disaster victims. In football itself, flares are not something new, supporters divert their use as a tool to celebrate something or attract the attention of the audience. However, this flare is often misused and becomes a tool for carrying out anarchic actions, starting from throwing the flare at the opponent's driver to suffocating when it is lit in large quantities.

Two supporters of the Indonesian giants were recently caught lighting flares in the final week of the BRI Liga 1. Persija faced PSS Sleman and Persib Bandung faced Persikabo 1973. Both supporters lit flares at the end of the match. However, the two teams had different fates where Persija supporters lit flares to celebrate the 5-2 victory over PSS Sleman at the Bung Karno Stadium with 60,000 spectators while Persib Bandung supporters celebrated their team's defeat after their team was slaughtered by Persikabo 1973 with a score of 1-4.

As a result, visibility was reduced due to the thick smoke and the match atmosphere became cloudy due to the large number of spectators who pushed out of the stadium to avoid smoke flares. PSSI itself has banned the use of flares because it further spoils the atmosphere of the match and encourages the audience to be anarchic but supporters still smuggle them into the stadium. Let's wait and see what happens to Persib and Persija regarding this flare incident and the nominal fine they will receive.

Feuds Between Supporters Often Colored Indonesian Football League

Football supporter feud is nothing new since the establishment of the Indonesian league. Since the establishment of the Indonesian league, as many as 78 supporters have died as a result of violence between football spectators around the Indonesian football environment. The feud was caused by regional prestige and a history of commotion between spectators. Thus, many consider that the Indonesian league is not yet friendly to spectators, especially those who bring their families into the stadium due to being vulnerable to friction between supporters. Two football supporter riots also occurred in two places recently.

PSIS Semarang, which at that time hosted PSS Sleman as a guest team, won with a convincing score of 5-2 on April 2 at the Jatidiri Stadium, Semarang. However, the victory was tarnished due to riots between PSIS Semarang supporters and PSS Sleman supporters in the north stand of the stadium. The rioting was triggered by taunting and throwing at each other between the two parties. The commotion lasted until the supporters came down to the field armed with chairs and irons to throw at each other. As a result, several people were injured by the throwing objects.

2 days later, riots occurred again in the match between Persib Bandung against Persis Solo at the Pakansari Bogor Stadium with Persib acting as host. A riot broke out at the end of the second half when the two fans suddenly ran towards each other carrying the metal fences and stadium chairs. The riot was suspected by the Persis supporters who were blocked by the stewards when they were about to approach the Persib supporters. Luckily, no one was injured as a result of this incident. The disciplinary commission will prepare a firm stance and fines for the two teams as hosts due to the chaos that occurred because they acted as the organizing committee for the match.
